  14.     I have just download xdvik-1.8c and build it sucessfully. I am
  15. writing to yoy to report an aparent bud: when I start xdvi and use the
  16. Selfile widget to specify the file, I get an error:

  28. I discover later that if I start xdvi by giving a file name then it
  29. seems to work properly.

  31. I take this opportunity to make a suggestion on the "wish list" for a
  32. future version of xdvi.
  33.  
  34. 1) I always set the margin ptions to strip off the white space around
  35. my xdvi 's page. However, when I type d (or down-arrow) to scroll down
  36. the page, it scrolls all the way to the bottom of the page (the manual
  37. say it scrolls 2/3 of a window full but since my window already
  38. contains more than 1/3 of a window full, it would go to the end). I
  39. have no interest to see the white space at the bottom of my page, so
  40. it would be nice if the scrolling stops at the lower margin which I
  41. have set. (The user still has the possibility to scroll down to the
  42. bottom by typybg again d, for ex., or by ussing the scroll
  43. bar). Another nice feature is to let the user set the amount of
  44. scrolling. This can be done through a resource or a command option, but
  45. it would be far more convenient to let the user set it dynamically in
  46. a way similar to the margin setting through the command M (for ex. the
  47. amount of scrolling can be defined as those which will bring the
  48. pointer to the uper left corner of the window when u and r are typed).

  50. 2) Recent versions of xdvi can use grey level to display shrinking
  51. bitmap. I prefer it but I miss the possibility to control the grey
  52. level (which can be done before by setting the density). I recently
  53. discover that this can be done through the parameter gamma (this
  54. however does not seems to be well documented) but it would be nice if
  55. this could be done *dynamically* in a way similar to the command S
  56. (for ex. type 120 G would set the gamma parameter to 120% = 1.20)
  57.  
  58.     I do hope that you will implement some of my wish list in a
  59. future release of xdvik. The xdvi program seems not to be maintaned
  60. anymore.
